Summer 2021 and 2022 Reviews:

"We love this place! We love the area of Nauset Heights. It is our 4th time renting this house. It is large enough for our family of 12 to meet as a whole group or in smaller groups. It's location to its beach is convenient. The water is calm and warm for toddlers on up. For this area of Nauset Heights, there is a stairway to Nauset Beach. The Widow's Watch on the roof was a great place to watch the spectacular sunsets or enjoy a morning coffee. My husband and I always take the cottage and kids\grandkids take the upstairs rooms. As with all 4 rentals, there are toys, games, puzzles, and beach paraphernalia. The owner was/is responsive to our needs/questions. He also made changes to the house upon buying it 2 years ago. The WiFi is excellent in all areas. The main room is painted "white" which really is better then the former brown interior. The kitchen is fully equipped so one can cook a meal. There are solar panels. The TV is now in the "Game" Room instead of the Main Room. Nauset Beach House has met our expectations and more."

"We stayed in Ken and Carol's home during the last week of September. The home is beautiful and well equipped with everything you may need for your stay. Our group included young toddlers and grandparents, so having the in-law cottage was so key! The house has plenty of space to spread out and relax. Even though we didn't stay during prime beach season, we still took the quick walk down the beach daily. The location cannot be beat. We have been staying on the cape for 20+ years and this is by far our favorite home we have rented. Thanks Ken and Carol."

"We recently completed a week-long visit at this home. The first thing that impressed me about the property was its convenience - both geographically and to live in. Geographically, it is only about 100 yards from the beach of Priscilla's Landing on Nauset Harbor. You can kayak all around that huge harbor, and take long walks around much of its perimeter. The ocean is less than a mile walk to the east, and peaceful little Mill Pond (in which we saw 2 seals one day, and dozens of fish jumping for about 10 minutes) is just a little way to the west once you hit the beach. A lot of Orleans is accessible on fairly quiet streets by bike, too, so it enhances the visit to bring a bike and kayak if you can. But we enjoyed the vistas just walking the neighborhood, too. Then there is the convenience of the way the house is laid out. The kitchen, DR, and LR are basically all one big room, so people can easily talk with one another, or do their own thing in close proximity. There is a balcony on the second floor and then a smaller one on the 3rd level, from which you can see a panorama from the ocean, most of Nauset Bay, and Mill Pond, plus a great sunset. The ambience is very light but also rustic, with high, beamed ceilings, lots of natural light with the many windows, and undoubtedly the largest library of books and possibly the largest collection of puzzles/games of any rental I've seen. Finally, from a privacy perspective, the house is secluded behind natural shrubbery. But more important are the various private spaces within the house itself. As I mentioned before, there are balconies on both the 2nd a 3rd levels. Then there is both a front and back porch. (On the back porch one day, within the span of only 30 minutes, I watched about 6 varieties of birds - robins, doves, goldfinches, jays, blackbirds, a couple smaller ones - both share and compete over space in the yard while pecking around for food. In addition, a chipmunk was getting in on the action and a hawk swooped in and out.) plus, on the first floor, there is essentially an entirely separate apartment on the west side of the house, with its own bedroom, bath, kitchen, eating area, and sitting room that even featured a fireplace. All in all, a very satisfying place to spend a week or 3, and recharge your batteries!"

"Our week stay at Nauset Beach House was fantastic! Our host, Ken, was very helpful and communicative. The house is beautiful and spacious, and accommodated our group of 10 comfortably. The connected cottage was perfect for the grandparents. The view from the upper deck was spectacular. The house is approximately a 15-minute walk to the beach and a stone's throw from Priscilla's landing, where you can launch a kayak. Nauset Heights is a gorgeous and peaceful part of the Cape. We loved the house and location!"
Summer 2020 Guest Reviews:

"This house was exceptional. All of the amenities made it a wonderful end of summer early fall experience. The house was cozy, the proximity to beaches and fishing were great, views were spectacular and all mod cons that one could wish for were available. I look forward to returning again."

"This house is a gem, a true golden nugget! This was our fourth year renting this house, and it keeps getting better! We love the location and everything about the house. There are no improvements that we could recommend and we only wish we could stay longer. It always amazes us when the two weeks have elapsed and it's time to go home. Thank you for sharing your wonderful get-away with us!"

"We just spent an amazing week at this very special house. What a perfect vacation! The location is wonderful. Quiet neighborhood with Priscilla landing at the end of the street - not even 2 minutes. From here you can launch kayaks, SUPs, canoes (all available for rent with free delivery from Goose Hummock) and explore the quiet inlet. If you keep walking around you reach the inlet beach, which is quiet, beautiful, and great for swimming with warm water and no waves. Our favorite though was of course the breathtaking Nauset Beach. You can access Nauset for a big ocean beach day by either walking around the inlet or by heading through the neighborhood and down the Nauset Heights association stairs. Both routes take about 10 minutes when walking with young kids - less without! The part of Nauset these paths take you to is far from the more crowded areas near the main entrance. You really have room to spread out. We loved heading down at the end of the day to enjoy cocktails when you pretty much have the beach to yourself. The house itself is the greatest beach house! It just has so much character - the pictures really don't do it justice. We were 4 adults and 6 kids and the house is so big we had a ton of space and privacy. Kids loved the attached cottage. There was an incredible amount of cool old books, DVDs, board games, puzzles - you have plenty to keep you occupied if you get a rainy day! Window seat was a favorite with the kids for card games and reading. Big backyard with tons of yard games. Every beach accessory you can imagine. Ping pong and pool downstairs. Awesome back deck where you can easily sit 10-12 people for dinner. Extremely cool crow's nest for panoramic views of the inlet and beach during the day and stargazing at night. Cute outdoor shower to refresh and hammock to collapse in at the end of a busy day. I could go on and on! Ken was lovely and quick to respond. Highly, highly recommended!"

"We stayed at this house at the end of July with three small children and six adults. The house was spacious and well-appointed. Tons of toys and books for the kids and a great lawn for the days when we didn't go to the beach. We thankfully didn't have a rainy day, but would have had plenty to do if we had with the ping pong table and pool downstairs Access to the boat launch at Priscilla landing was a couple hundred yards away and the main Nauset beach was a short walk (ten minutes) Ken was great to interact with and quick to respond with any questions that we had. We would definitely return for future summer trips"

"My wife and I spent a week at our new home in early October and we had a blast! The house was a perfect base to explore Nauset Beach in a nasty Nor"Easter. Didn"t stop us, just wrap up appropriately and enjoy the Inlet and the beach-endless walks, shore birds, lobsterman, kayakers. We enjoyed several of Orleans" fabulous restaurants, ate lobsters (the Yardarm), fried clams (Cooks), fresh cod and halibut (Beacon Room, Rock Harbor Grill) and killer good burgers (The Knack). Kayaked up and down the River, Pochet Inlet, Mill Pond, Meeting House Pond. But the best part was simply hanging out at 22 Priscilla Rd with old friends, enjoying a bottle of wine on the porch, catching sunset on the upper decks, and telling stories. The pool tournament downstairs wasn"t too shabby either. Highly recommended, but of course, I'm far from unbiased!"

Summer and Fall 2019 Reviews:

"We have only superlatives for Nauset Beach House. There was a total of 12 in our party, including 4 grandchildren 4 years and under. Our week lucked out with mostly sunny, high 60's weather. However, even rainy days would have been fun at this beach house. The excellent kitchen pleased the gourmands among us. There were tons of toys, baby/toddler paraphernalia, DVDs, books, beach paraphernalia.

Nauset Heights has a lovely, gentle beach and inlet.....a short walk from house to beach. There was also easy neighborhood access to the Nauset Beach side. One section of the house is a parental/in-law suite which Is a complete unit in itself. At times, my husband and I loved being away from all the 'noise.' I have mobility issues. However, our bedroom and full bath were located on the first floor which helped me immensely. The owners take such pride in this rental.....you can see it and you can feel it."

"This is our 5th year of renting this fabulous home. The home is gorgeous and the owners are delightful. This year there are many upgrades. The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the view of the water from the deck and upper deck for sunsets is spectacular. The house has everything, all you need to do is arrive and enjoy."
"The owners have created a wonderful, welcoming home with every amenity one could think of! The beautiful, private yard is quiet and peaceful, but close to beaches and town. The house easily accommodates extended family gatherings or groups of friends. We had a family reunion here last week - 4 generations! We had one big dinner with everyone out on the porch, and the open concept living/dining/kitchen area was the scene of many late night talks, meal preparation, and movies. The great-grandchildren enjoyed playing hide and seek, wiffle ball, and croquet in the yard, and pool and ping-pong in the basement when they weren't at the beach or playing board games in the annex dining room. Others enjoyed sailing and kayaking in the bay, early morning walks over the dunes to the north end of Nauset Beach, sunset strolls to the staircase on the heights to enjoy the view or jumping in for a swim in the "swimming hole" down the beach. There was plenty of room to spread out, and the separate original cottage was perfect for the family with little ones who went to bed early and woke up before the others. Many wonderful memories were made..."

"Nick, who wrote a previous review spoke so highly of this property, the Thompsons [former owners], and the location that our decision was made. The description of the home, the layout and amenities was excellent, and there was nothing that we could or would have added or that we missed.

We were met at the house -- which was quite nice not having to find a realtor and get the key -- and were greeted with such friendliness that we felt immediately at home. Richard and Ann are incredible hosts, with fresh flowers, fresh from the garden greens for dinner, and the warmth of family! They were gracious and attentive to any question we had during our stay.
The size of the house was perfect, although we expected additional family to join us, and as they were unable to do so, we didn't use the addition. Had they been able to join us, it would have been perfect for them.
The landscaping is quite incredible, with beautiful flowers, trees and shrubs for the starlings, chickadees, robins, and the yellow warblers, as well as privacy between the properties. Inside, the kitchen is stocked with all manner of dishes, pots, pans, serving pieces, and bakeware for any culinary taste. The variety of games, books, and puzzles had me almost wishing for another day of rain.

We so enjoyed the weather (only 1 day of morning rain) and 70 degree temps at the beginning of the week, the sunshine, inlet and the nearby Nauset Beaches. It was a special treat to wake early and have coffee on the roof-top deck, watching the fishing boats go out for their daily catch, or sit on the first floor deck and read while the rest of our family enjoyed sleeping in.
Our young granddaughter so enjoyed the yard, inlet, the toys and the window seat where we cuddled and read books together. The location was perfect to travel the local beaches, shopping, and restaurants.
We had our own private retreat from the hustle and bustle of the hectic world we'd left behind for a week. Our only regret is that we reserved only a week. Two weeks would have been heaven. Everyone in our family loved the home and the time we had together here, and recommend the Thompson home highly."

"2500 characters will not allow me to do this home justice. Lets start out by saying that Richard and Ann are amazing people that value your experience in their home and are invested in your stay and enjoyment. The house is immaculate, spacious, and chalked full of amenities. The home features 4 decks (the 4th deck is on the roof and offers an amazing view of the surrounding area and Nauset Inlet), a large kitchen, large dining room table, large sitting room/family room with flat screen TV and cable. Toys, toys, toys for the kids to enjoy. A selection of games and 4 bedrooms. The main house has 3 bedrooms and an adjoined cottage has an additional bedroom, kitchenette and sitting room. This is a great house for a large party. We had 5 adults and 2 children there comfortably with room to spare. All of your beach needs are there (umbrellas, chairs, toys, coolers, etc etc etc). There is ping pong and pool, and outdoor shower and a big yard that the kids can run around in. Oh there is also a large selection of books and DVDs that can be enjoyed as well. Just a great place to stay."

"From a activities perspective, you are a short walk from Nauset Inlet which is a calm ocean cove that is somewhat rocky (I would recommend aqua socks or some kind of strapped sandal), but features an array of creatures (horse shoe crabs, hermit crabs, birds, fish and snails) to observe. The calm water is shallow and great for kids. We spent an afternoon out there an it was great. The community features access to Nauset Beach, but it is a little more of a walk and features climbing down a steep set of stairs and making a trek over a boardwalk that is long to get to the beach, but its FREE to those that go in season. For people like me that went off season, we just packed up the van for a short 5 min drive down to the public access point and walked right onto the beach without much of a walk (and it was Free, but on season it is $15/day). Nauset Beach features surf that you could go surfing in but a great sandy beach that can be enjoyed by all. During our visit we observed several pods of seals swimming by. You are a 5-10 min drive into Orleans Center, which features 2 grocery stories, many great restaurants and other things to do.
Overall it was a great stay and I would highly recommending staying at this property if you are in the market for a Cape Cod house. The property is clean, well maintained, historic, full of amenities and is great for families."
